Barbara Nazarewicz, RLA was elected to the WPC board at the September 2021 board meeting. Barbara is a registered landscape architect with ten years of experience working on a variety of projects throughout the Northeast. A designer at heart, her work is inspired by local community assets and potential, with the intention of creating public spaces that promote people’s health, happiness, and well-being. Barbara has worked on local projects including the Albany Skyway and New York State Welcomer Centers in New Baltimore and Queensbury. She is an active member of Upstate American Society of Landscape Architects and presented at a local seminar focused on placemaking and reuse of obsolete infrastructure. Barbara is a founder of professional networking community LocalxDesign in Albany, NY where she promotes creative work focused on designing spaces for all users.
Barbara received her AS with Honors in Environmental Horticulture and Design from Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, California, and her BS in Landscape Architecture from the University of California at Davis. While living in Boston, Barbara was a volunteer and a Docent the Emerald Necklace Conservancy, which stewards the 100-year-old park system designed by Frederick Law Olmsted that encompasses 1,100 acres of parkland extending from Boston’s Back Bay through Brookline.
Barbara works for the local office of Stantec Consulting Services, Inc., and has been instrumental in Stantec’s volunteer participation in Washington Park cleanups. She lives with her family in Albany’s Center Square neighborhood.
