Lantern Parade
November 7, 2021: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
SAVE THE DATE!
We were so disappointed to miss last year’s event because of Covid, but fingers crossed, we will be able to gather this year for this simple celebration of light and community. This event is free, accessible, and all are welcome. Leading up to the parade, organizations and venues across the city of Albany will host free lantern-making workshops.
“We walk with handmade lanterns in our historic park to share some light as the days become shorter,” explains Conservancy board member Sarah Read, the event’s organizer. “This is about our Albany community coming together for a simple, free event to celebrate art, community and warmth on an evening few people look forward to – the night we have to turn back the clocks. If you come to a workshop, you’ll meet new people, and the night of the walk you’ll recognize these new friends – that’s the community-building we’re going for.”
The Lantern Parade is FREE to the public and everyone is welcome.
