The debut and first weekend of the Washington Park Farmers Market was a great success! Great things happen when we work together as a community, great things happen!
Ribbon-Cutting
Thank you to those who came out to the ribbon cutting on Friday August 2, including the Lark St BID, all the neighborhood associations, Council Member Richard Conti, and the City of Albany, among others. Special thanks to State Assembly Woman Patricia Fahy, City of Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan, City of Albany Treasurer Darius Shahinfar, Albany Parking Authority Executive Director Matt Peter when came to show support of this new endeavor which will bring community, local farmers, artists, mom and pops businesses, and all the neighborhood business together to support one another.
Opening Weekend
On Saturday, August 3 the Washington Park Farmers Market opened with yoga from Lark Street Yoga at 9am, followed by the vendor stalls opening at 10am.

WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program
On Monday, August 5, the Washington Park Farmers Market announced on Facebook that it has been approved for the WIC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP). This program is associated with the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, popularly known as WIC. Eligible WIC participants are issued FMNP coupons in addition to their regular WIC benefits. These coupons can be used to buy eligible foods from farmers, farmers’ markets or roadside stands that have been approved by the state agency to accept FMNP coupons. And that means that the Farmers Market will be accessible to even more Albany residents.
Kids Entrepreneurial Program
With an eye to cultivating the youngest generation of farmers market vendors, the Washington Park Farmers Market has invited children to sell their paintings, painted rocks, jewelry, lemonade, or crafts, grab a booth and sell them at the Market at no cost.
